EILEEN MURIEL HURLBURT (nee SHACKELL) Eileen passed away peacefully at St. Boniface General Hospital on November 9, 2009. Born on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1915 in Moose Jaw, SK. She moved with her family to Winnipeg in March 1924. Eileen attended Lord Selkirk and St. John's Technical Schools. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Charles W. Hurlburt in December 1991, and by her mother and father, Elsie and Herbert Shackell and by her brothers and sisters Fred, Leslie, Edith and Eunice. She will be missed by her niece Donna Price and her husband Gordon; niece Margaret Hansen; nephew Doug and his wife Carole; great-nephew Benjamin Hansen and his wife Shalnee and son Shrey; and great-niece Dawn Hansen. Eileen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 72 years. She held many offices including Grand Secretary and Worthy Grand Matron of Manitoba and was a long-standing Board Member of the Manitoba Eastern Star Chalet. Eileen's Star friends were very important to her. Eileen had also been a member of St. John's Cathedral all of her life. Cremation has taken place. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Many thanks to the staff at The Wellington, as she very much appreciated their kindness during her residence there. Many thanks also for the wonderful care from the staff at St. Boniface General Hospital over the past three months. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileen's memory may be made to a charity of your choice with thanks.
