Gladys was predeceased by her husband Clifford Nelson in July of 1982 and her eldest son William Nelson, Hermosillo, Mexico in March of 1995. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Patricia Rose Powell, also dear to her are her eight grand-children: Nancy, Reno, NV; Mary and Gladys, California; Kim David, Winnipeg; Melissa, British Columbia; Rick, British Columbia; Cathy, Calgary; and George, Winnipeg; 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews. She also will be remembered by her daughter Betty Gunner and son Jack Darling. Gladys and Clifford married in 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. They were blessed in being able to enjoy both country living in Manitoba as well as moving to Winnipeg in 1947 where they remained. Her achievements were holding membership to the Rebekha's Lodge for 67 years. She was elected president of the Manitoba Ladies Curling Association for the 1967-1968 seasons with winning an 8-ender as a skip through the Grain Exchange Curling Club in December 1973. Cremation has taken place and a private family service and interment will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A special thank you to the nursing staff at St. Norbert Personal Care Home who embraced Gladys and made her stay comfortable. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Gladys to the Oddfellows and Rebekha Manitoba Eye Foundation, Box 132, 4025 Roblin Blvd, Winnipeg, MB, R3R 3V5.
