Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH DAVY Kenneth Davy of Birch River, Manitoba passed away in the Swan Valley Regional Health Centre on November 12, 2009 at the age of 85 years. Ken was born in Birch River on November 9, 1924 to Norman and Emily Davy. He received his education at the Drury School. He married his wife Lily Steffan of Transcona in Birch River, Manitoba on November 1, 1958. Sadly, she predeceased him in August of 1997. Ken grew up in Birch River. During his teenage years he worked on a fishing and logging crew on Lake Winnipegosis. He started farming in Birch River in 1943. In the 1940s and 1950s, during the winters he worked at a paper mill in New Westminster, BC, built houses in Calgary, Alberta and in a mine at Lynn Lake. Ken lived full time in Birch River beginning in 1958. He was a man of many trades. He also worked as a carpenter and built houses and donated his skills and time to community projects in Birch River. Ken was an avid curler. He was second on the Larry Connolly Rink that registered an eight ender in 2003. Ken is survived by: his beloved soul mate Mary Stanford; son Ken Davy (Claire) of Winnipeg, Manitoba; daughter Gale Davy (Anne-Jose Villeneuve) of Wisconsin; brothers William and Gordon Davy of Birch River; sister Vera Banting of Ottawa, Ontario; grandchildren Kyle and Christopher Davy (Ken), Jessica and Lindsay Berger (Gale) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Lily Davy; brother, Allan Davy; and sisters Marjorie Blazenko and Brenda Johnston. Evening visitations will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Paull Funeral Home, Swan River, Manitoba. Active pallbearers are: Christopher Davy, Kyle Davy, Lloyd Davy, Melvin Davy, Norman Davy and Wade Davy. Ken will be laid to rest in the Crandell Cemetery, Birch River, Manitoba on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. Friends are asked to gather in procession prior to the interment beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Birch River, Manitoba. Following the interment, a Celebration of Life and Love Supper for Ken will be held in the Birch River Legion Hall beginning at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's honour may be made to the Ken Davy Memorial Fund. All proceeds will be donated to Birch River Community Projects.
