GEORGE WLASICHUK On November 14, 2009, surrounded by love, George Wlasichuk passed away peacefully with his family by his side. George is lovingly remembered by Tina, (nee Dyck), his wife of 60 years, daughters Deborah Atley and Cheryl Morganti of Oakville, Ontario, and son Randy (Joanne) of Winnipeg. He was adored by grandsons Sean and Scott Wlasichuk and Michael Morganti of Vancouver. He is survived by his sister Kay Filipchuk. George was predeceased by brothers Sam, Nick, Bill, Stan and sisters Rose, Mary, Vicky and Ann. One of ten children, George was born on the farm near Kamsack, Saskatchewan. It was during these early years that he cultivated his love of nature. He passed this love of the outdoors on to his children. His first work experience as a young teen began with the CNR, laying railway ties. His uncle, a chef, took him under his wing and George found himself assisting in the dining car. He loved travelling across Canada and experiencing its varied landscapes. George had limitless energy and a zest for life. He had a magnetic personality and an infectious smile. George excelled in sales. He had the gift of being able to connect with everyone. This ability brought him success in everything he did. Wearever pots and pans, magazines, furniture, heating and air conditioning units and steel buildings were just a few items on his product list. His sales experience culminated in a very successful career with Royal Trust. In 1974 George received the Top Realtor Award. Being an entrepreneur, George opened his own real estate company, Grosvenor Realty. He operated this company until his retirement when he was able to fully enjoy his hobbies. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Many happy hours were spent picking wild mushrooms, berries and making his renowned saskatoon wine. He was incredibly energetic, active, and spirited. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Holy Family Nursing Home, especially the staff of the fifth floor. A celebration of his life will be held at the Voyage Funeral Chapel at 220 Hespeler Avenue on Thursday, November 19 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to the The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or Holy Family Nursing Home.
