ROBERT WHEATLAND Bob passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the age of 87, after a brief illness. He leaves behind his wife, Audrey, his loving daughters Margie Fisher and Dale Reinsch, grandchildren Greg Fisher, Kim McKee and her husband Tony, Jeff and Danny Reinsch, great-grandchildren Kashton Fisher, Lochlan and Ryder McKee who remember him with great affection. Nieces and nephews and their families will dearly miss their Uncle Bob . Bob was born in the Sanford district and lived there until his retirement. He worked for many years as a mechanic and was respected throughout the area for his talent and hard work. For many of those years he worked to ensure the safety of the school buses for the MacDonald School Division. Bob was a dedicated member of the volunteer fire department in Sanford, just one of the many contributions he made to that community. He was a humble man who quietly went about helping others, not expecting anything in return. As a young man, Bob was a talented hockey and baseball player. Later he derived great pleasure from golfing and took pride in coaching the MacDonald Mets. Everything Bob did, he did well and baking was no exception! His delicious cookies and cakes will be missed by his family and friends. Bob was predeceased by Freda, his wife of 42 years. Their love for each other and devotion to their daughters made a visit to their home a warm and wonderful experience. Bob's talent as a photographer proved to be very important as he and Freda spent many years as members of the committee which worked tirelessly to complete the Sanford-Ferndale history. The family expresses their gratitude for the exceptional care and friendship over the past 25 years of Dr. Brian Sharkey, as well as the recent care provided by the staff of Unit 4 and the ER at the Victoria Hospital, as well as the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Services. Memorial donations may be made to the War Amps or the Victoria Hospital. Respecting Bob's wishes, there will be no service. Interment at the Sanford cemetery will take place at a later date. This kind and gentle man will be dearly missed and treasured in all of our hearts.
