GLADYS EVA MAY HAMMOND (nee Sobey) May 2, 1921 - November 15, 2009 Gladys was predeceased by her husband George in 1988 and eldest son Gordon in 2007. She is survived by her son Gary (Maureen) and daughter Gayle (George) as well as grand-children Dayna (Chris), Darcy (Will), Keely (Will), and Courtney and great-grandchild Jacob. She is also survived by her brother Tom Sobey as well as many nieces and nephews in the Sobey clan, and special friends Stuart Webb and Dolly Styles. Gladys' family would like to extend special thanks to the many homecare workers who often went beyond the scope of their responsibilities in providing a measure of companionship as well as administering to her needs. Special thanks as well to the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital who provided comfort and care in her last days. There will be a private family graveside memorial service on Thursday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of cards or flowers, those wishing to may make a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society or any other charity of their choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
