Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAURICE PALEY It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather at the Morris General Hospital on November 13, 2009 with his children by his side. Maurice was predeceased by his beautiful wife Dorothy in 2003, his father John, mother Wasylyna (Bzowy), his four brothers William, Peter, Dan, and Steve, and two sisters Ann and Wilma. He leaves to mourn his son David (Ken); daughters Nicki (Hank) and Carla (Aidan); and his grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Dana, Dustin, Kyle, and Hope; as well as many nieces, nephews, and very special friends. Dad was born April 8, 1922 in Rosa, MB. He attended Baskerville School in Rosa to Grade 9, and lived in the house north of the Rosa Parish Rectory where the present Shevchenko Ukrainian Centre is located. In 1937 the family moved to Dominion City, where dad alongside our Gido, helped clear the land for grain farming northwest of Dominion City on the Roseau River. In 1945 Maurice helped his dad build Great West Motors in Dominion City. While his father was busy farming, Maurice ran Great West Motors, which featured an implement dealership in Cockshutt, which later became White Farm Equipment. He also had a sub-dealership in Mercury/Meteor vehicles. Mom and dad were married on October 28, 1950, and enjoyed their lives together in Dominion City. In 1975 dad bought his first motorhome which led to many sunny winter vacations in the south. In 1979 dad sold Great West Motors, but continued to farm. Dad loved his days hunting, fishing, and curling with his many friends, and as time passed he enjoyed golfing and horseshoes. The last few years were tough, but our dad was determined to stay in his home, and in the town that he loved. Thank you to all his friends that were there for him, who checked on him, and helped him stay in his home. Thank you to all the caregivers who spent time with him, and helped him with his day-to-day activities. Thank you to the staff at the Morris General Hospital for your sincere compassion shown to dad in these last hard months. Funeral services will be held at the Dominion City United Church on Thursday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Barbara Roberts officiating. Interment at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Dominion City United Church Memorial Fund, Box 128, Dominion City, MB R0A 0H0; or the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Rosa, MB R0A 1N0.
