LLOYD MALCOLM MITCHELL Peacefully on Monday, November 16, 2009 after a long and noble battle with Huntington's Disease, Lloyd passed away into a restful place. Left to cherish his memory is his dedicated, loving wife of 52 years, Helen; son Brett (Janet), Liam, Julien and Simon; daughter Wendy (Arnold Dietz) Emma and Chelsea; brother Ken (Helen), brother-in-law Bill and family. Lloyd was predeceased by his mother Jean, father Dougal and sister Sheila. Lloyd was born on August 21, 1931 in Brandon and lived in Ingelow until 1937 when the family moved the family farm to Brookdale, MB. He graduated school, then moved to Winnipeg. After attending Winnipeg Technical College, Lloyd began work in the small engine mechanical field. He worked for McCulloch Chain Saws / Scott Outboards until 1969, then began work with Brooks Equipment (Bombardier) where Lloyd became their Western Canada Service Manager travelling from Valcourt, Quebec to the west coast running training schools. In addition to his interest in motors, Lloyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, snow-mobiling, water skiing, photography, his grandchildren and the great outdoors. Lloyd and Helen spent weekends and holidays at Bird Lake building and enjoying the family cabin. Our most sincere thanks go to the staff at both the convalescent home, the Golden West Centennial Lodge and the Huntington's Society of Canada Manitoba Chapter and all those who support the cause. A celebration of Lloyd's life will be held at Crestview United Church, 316 Hamilton Ave., Winnipeg at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 20. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Huntington's Disease Resource Centre, 200 Woodlawn St., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 2H7 would be greatly appreciated.
