GLORIA FAITH JOHNSON October 10, 1929 - November 14, 2009 It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Johnson at the age of 80. After a life filled with friendship, love and laughter Gloria (Granny) is off and running on her next adventure. She faced her brief but unrelenting battle with cancer with courage and fortitude but was disappointed that no euthanasia options were available. Always a realist with life's challenges she embraced her final days with humour, dignity and strength. Gloria was born in Winnipeg and lived here all her life. She was the youngest of 10 children. In 1949 she married Philip Hein and had two children Cheryl and James. In 1959 she and her business partner Ernie Sutch opened Ace Auto Electric where she worked for an amazing 51 years to the day! It remains a family run business today. In 1970, she married Arvid Johnson with whom she shared many happy times. They built a cottage and had many wonderful family gatherings at the Lake. She enjoyed travelling with friends to various destinations and always said trips were your best memories . She was wise and had immense knowledge acquired from being an insatiable reader. She enjoyed music and loved animals, especially horses, birds and dogs. She had many thoroughbred horses, her favourite being Rogue's Game. Her most adored pet was her beloved German S hepherd, Heidi. She lived her life as an adventure, making friends every step of the way. She had a genuine interest in people, especially her friends and family. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter Cheryl and her husband Sig Sobczak, her son James Hein and his wife Catherine, her grandchildren Dave Sobczak (Camille), Angie (Cory Baseraba) and Sterling Sobczak (Shana) and her great-grandchildren Zander, Evan, Zoe, Zarah, Hayden, Marek, Gabriel and Charlotte. She also leaves behind sisters Alice and Anne and many family and friends. She lived all the days of her life. A celebration of Gloria's life will take place on Saturday, November 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. 338-7111 Flowers are gratefully declined.
