Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAJOR WILLIAM STUART MCKENZIE Salvation Army (retired) Promoted to Glory October 1, 1929 - November 16, 2009 With his wife Ena and other family members by his side, Major William (Bill) McKenzie was promoted to Glory on November 16, 2009. Bill was born October 1, 1929, in Vancouver to Gordon and Lyla McKenzie. In 1950 he entered the Salvation Army Training College and was commissioned as a Salvation Army Officer in 1951. In 1953, while stationed in Selkirk, he met Ena Boyden who was studying nursing at the Grace Hospital, and they were married in 1954. Over the next 39 years Bill and Ena served with the Salvation Army in appointments in Canada as well as Brazil and Germany. Following retirement in 1993 they resided in Abbotsford, Calgary, and Winnipeg. Bill was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Lyla and by his brother-in-law, Bill Kindiak. Left to celebrate his memory are: his wife of 55 years Ena; six sons - Ian (Glenda), Robert, William (Mandy), Gordon (Wendy), Cameron (Irma), and Donald; along with sisters Betty (Bill) Beaton, June Kindiak, and Sheryl McKenzie; 11 grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2009, at Southlands Community Church, 85 Keslar Rd., Winnipeg, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Christmas Cheer Fund. GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
