His memory will be forever cherished by his soul mate and best friend of 60 years, Lucienne and his children Claudette Mayer (Marcel), Pauline Friesen (Wes), Patsy Barnard (Chris), Rheal (Elaine), Lise Friesen (Reg), Doris Kroeker (Dave), Donald, Jo-Anne Mayer (Brian), Marc (Averil), Mae Gauthier (Bob), Marcel (Jacqueline), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings Mike, Marielle Laberge and Yolande Forest. He was predeceased by his parents Felix and Marie Anne and seven siblings. Johnny was born in Ile des Chenes, MB on April 28, 1922. He spent his youth on the family farm. He served overseas in the Second World War. Upon his return, he met the love of his life and they settled in Ste. Anne, MB where they raised their family. He chose carpentry as his career and was employed by K S Builders for over 30 years. He was committed to family, and enjoyed the simple things in life: crosswords, reading, dancing and church choir. Dad was a man of few words, however when he spoke, it was with deep conviction. J.P. was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Knights of Columbus. He was a board member of the Caisse Populaire and Villa Youville. We thank the staff at the Villa Youville for their loving care and to Sr. Rioux and Sr. Forest for their visits and compassion. We express our gratitude to Paul and Betsy Mourant for their continued love, support and companionship. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, November 21 at 10:15 a.m. Arrangements by Birchwood Funeral Chapel 1-204-346-1030 or 1-888-454-1030
