Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNA HELEN HYRA Suddenly on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Portage General Hospital, Lorna Hyra passed away at the age of 70 years. Lorna was born at Niagara-On-The-Lake, ON, daughter of the late Anthony and Emily Hyra. As an infant she moved with her family to Angusville and later Silverton, MB, where the family farmed for many years. She lived at home with her parents until 1975 when she moved to Portage la Prairie to reside at the Manitoba Developmental Centre where she resided until the time of her passing. Lorna enjoyed camping and the outdoors. In later life, TV and the activities at the Centre brought her much enjoyment. Predeceased by her parents, Lorna is survived by one sister Mabel Parobec of Moosomin, SK and one brother Richard Hyra (Karen) of Lanigan, SK; also four nieces and four nephews. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Aspen Worship Centre, at the Manitoba Developmental Centre, 840 Third Street N.E., Portage la Prairie. Interment will follow in the family plot in Russell, MB at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24. If friends so desire, memorial donations to the Residents Benefit Fund c/o The Manitoba Developmental Centre, P. O. Box 1190, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3C6 would be appreciated. The family is most grateful for the loving care Lorna received from the staff at the M.D.C. and for the compassionate assistance of Chaplain Ron Siemans.
