Born: Jan 05, 1927
Date of Passing: Nov 17, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON THOMAS PARBERY January 5, 1927 - November 17, 2009 Suddenly, with his family at his side, Gordon passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on November 17, 2009. Gordon was predeceased by his beloved wife Bernice, in 2005; his parents, Samuel and Ethel Parbery; and his brother Arthur. He will be deeply missed by his sons, David (Julie), of Medicine Hat and Grant, of Calgary; his daughter Carolyn Hernandez (Alberto); and his three grandchildren, Caitlin and Matthew Curtis and Gabriel Hernandez. Gordon also leaves to mourn several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and his dear friend Olive Cherkas. Gordon was born and raised in Winnipeg, attending Cecil Rhodes High School. He enjoyed a successful career in Materials Management with CN Rail both in Winnipeg and Montreal, retiring in 1987. Gordon was a music lover and enjoyed singing and listening to classical music. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang in several church choirs throughout his life. In his retirement, Gordon enjoyed taking cruises with his wife, other family members and friends, travelling throughout the Caribbean, to Hawaii and Alaska. He was scheduled to take his tenth cruise in January, a trip he was looking forward to very much. Gordon will be missed for many reasons, but perhaps none quite so much as his unique sense of humour. He had a knack for making amusing remarks and observations, and always had people smiling. In keeping with Gordon's wishes, no formal memorial service will be held. Cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank the paramedics and the medical staff of the Cardiac Cath. Lab and MICU of the St. Boniface Hospital for their excellent care of our father and their kindness and compassion for the few hours he was in their care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gordon's memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba (6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6) or The Winnipeg Humane Society (45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3).
