KAROL DONNA MCNEILL (nee WARREN) 1947 - 2009 It is with great sadness the family of Karol McNeill announces her passing on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the St. Boniface hospital. Karol is predeceased by her parents Geraldine and Frank Warren and her brother Tyler Warren. Left to cherish and mourn Karol are her loving husband Tom Cook, son Kelly (Shawne) and his children, Cassidy and Kiley, brother Gerald (Carol), sister-in-law Pat Roberts (Allan), sister-in-law Barb McNeill, extended family members and many friends. Karol loved her job as a Lab Technician for the University of Manitoba where she was employed for 38 years. She enjoyed great success in her career working in the Immunology, Oral Biology and Physiology departments during which she authored a number of published scientific papers related to her research. She had many lasting relationships with her colleagues and was the den mother to many doctors, students and other technicians, all of whom were regularly treated with her fabulous baking. Karol loved gardening, cooking and her dogs. She had a passion for gardening and was always tinkering with new varieties of plants to put in her lovely backyard with the encouragement of her gardening buddies. Karol loved to go the lake at Ingolf to enjoy the tranquil surroundings, tour around in the boat and go for long walks with her dogs. Karol was very dedicated to her family, including her dogs whom she treated as her other children. She expressed great joy in sharing her passion for gardening and baking with her granddaughters and loved to spoil them rotten every chance she could. Karol was very proud of the various accomplishments of her son, which was a testimony to her powerful influence and guidance for which Kelly will be forever grateful. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Lynne, Val, Eleanor and the other members of the gourmet club for their support and enduring friendship. Special thanks to CancerCare Manitoba, Health Sciences Centre and the palliative care at St. Boniface Hospital for their kindness and professionalism. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice in Karol's memory. Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 27, 2009 at 3:00p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
