LEON TONNELLIER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leon Tonnellier on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the age of 77 years. He is deeply cherished and lovingly missed by his bride of 54 years, Yvonne, children, Edmond (Jane), Kim (Don Neufeld), Terri, David (Laura), and number 5 Lilja (Tim Rider) as well as grandchildren, Marina, Janelle, Trent, Joshua and Jayden. Leon will also be missed by numerous other extended family members, the morning coffee crew, his many new friends at Betelstadur, and curling friends at many clubs but especially Valour Road. He was predeceased by his father Ernest and his mother Violet. Leon was an amazing person who touched the lives of all of those around him. He was especially proud of his association with the Valour Road curling club, having curled there his entire life as well as dedicating much time to the executive. He was both president and manager of the club at times and worked tirelessly on many committees and bonspiel events. He especially loved to watch his children and friends as they had success in the sport he loved. After working 35 years for the City of Winnipeg and bartending at the Cambridge Hotel, he retired at the age of 52 and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren the little people as well as other pastimes such as the horse races. He was generous with his time, and we will all miss his character, wit and humour. A service will be held at First Lutheran Church, 580 Victor St. at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009. A Celebration of Leon's life will be held following the service at Thistle Curling Club at 280 Burnell St. at approximately 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. • Grandpa, it's been three years today since you left us and not a day goes by that I don't miss you. It hasn't seemed like it's been that long already... Till we meet again, I love you. - Posted by: Janelle Tonnellier (Grand daughter) on: Nov 19, 2012
