Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS CHARLES JOHNSON Tom was born September 4, 1953 in The Pas, Manitoba and grew up in Winnipeg. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Leslie and Anne Johnson, by his infant sister Viola, his brother Dan, his sister Doreen and by his brothers-in-law, Rolly, Don and Bryon. He is survived by his sisters, Sylvia, Petsy, Madeleine, Caroline and Diana and by his brothers, Frederick and Frank, brother-in-law, Brian and many nephews and nieces. Tom was a handsome and cheerful young man and in his youth, life held much promise. He was kind, thoughtful, always generous and innocent. He attended school in the west end of Winnipeg and often spoke of Mrs. Berry, his favourite teacher. He joined Air Cadets as a teenager and was briefly employed by the City of Winnipeg. He enjoyed endless hours spent riding his motor bike. Tragically, as an adult, he suffered from an illness which prevented him from achieving his full potential in life. Tom was very close to his family and benefited for years from the love and support provided to him principally by his sisters, Madeleine and Sylvia, who with their husbands and families, always made sure he had whatever he needed, including warm clothing and good food on his table. His niece, Alexandra, made very special efforts to participate and help him with his life's challenges. He always showed his appreciation for their efforts. Lunches, dinners and birthdays with them were always very happy occasions. Tom's best and closest friend was his younger brother Dan and he was devastated by his sudden passing in 2003. They were inseparable as children, attended Air Cadets and Air Cadet camp together, and shared important friendships with many of the same people including their old friends, Dennis, Willie and others. Tom was a true animal lover who enjoyed the company of his special cat, Tiger. Tom died peacefully at his home in Winnipeg on November 9, 2009. He will be buried at Brookside Cemetery in a grave he will share with his parents and brother Dan. He will be at peace in a beautiful place he knew well, close to the Johnson family homestead and with the people he loved. He would have approved of this choice. Tom was loved and will be missed by many. Family and friends are invited to attend Tom's funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Neil Bardal Inc, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, across from Brookside Cemetery. Tom's family wishes to thank the various community organizations which assisted him during his life. Donations may be made in Tom's name to the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba or to the Winnipeg Humane Society. NEIL BARDAL INC. 204-949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
