JOHN (JACK) CLIVE ALLENBY Peacefully at home on November 18, surrounded by family, Jack Allenby, beloved husband of Pat, passed away after a battle with Cancer. Besides his wife, he leaves behind three sons, Glenn and wife Kelly, Doug and Bruce and his precious grandchildren Kyle and Taylor. Also surviving are his sisters, Shirley Denison of Dartmouth NS, and Marion Griffiths of Ancaster, ON, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Jack was born in 1937 and raised on Aubrey Street in the west end of Winnipeg. He attended Laura Secord, Gordon Bell High School, and the University of Manitoba. He was employed for many years at Willson Office Specialty before starting his own sales agency, retiring in 2002. Jack was a member of Northern Light Prince Rupert Masonic Lodge #1, a thirty third degree member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and a past TPGM of the Lodge of Perfection. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Scotland, Royal Order of Jesters, a Legion of Honour member of the Order of DeMolay, and was a charter member and past president of the Khartum Shrine Fife and Drum Band. He was a longtime member of the Gilbert Sullivan Society of Manitoba and enjoyed his time as a volunteer driver for Manitoba Cancer Care for whom he continued to drive for even after his own diagnosis. Dad accomplished much in his life. He was a true friend to a countless number of people. If you needed an ear to bend, an encouraging word of advice, or an easy smile from a friendly face, Dad was always there. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and we will be forever grateful he was in our lives. We are so appreciative to everyone for the support shown to our family through the cards, letters and visits as well as the delicious food. A special thank you to the Palliative Care team whose compassion and upbeat attitudes allowed Dad to be comfortable at home in his last days. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Khartum Shrine Patient Transportation Fund, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3P 1B9 or the Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation, 420 Corydon Ave., Winnipeg, R3L 0N8. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 23rd at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Avenue, The Reverend Clark Saunders officiating.
