DOROTHY JOAN FLORENCE STEIN Peacefully on November 18, 2009 with family at her side, Dorothy Joan Florence Stein passed away at the age 69. Dorothy was born on October 11, 1940 to Bill and Millie Stein. She attended school in Kirkfield. Dorothy worked in the accounting department of Gambles, throughout their transition to Marshall Wells, Cotter and finally Tru Value until her retirement. Dorothy developed Polio when she was 13, which left her with restricted mobility. As a result, Dorothy developed a passion for reading and in later years watching sporting events on TV. She was especially interested in baseball and figure skating. Dorothy loved family get-togethers and sharing family history. Dorothy looked after her mother Millie until her passing in 2001. After her retirement she moved to Betelstadur Housing Co-op. As her health deteriorated, Dorothy had recently moved into Tuxedo Villa until her passing. Dorothy is survived by her sisters: Angie (Jim), Marj, Janet (Vern), Donna (Wayne), and her brother Bill (Pat), 12 nieces and nephews, 17 great-nieces and nephews, and five great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Millie and Bill Stein, her brother Clifford Stein and her sister-in-law Margaret Stein. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 23, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's name to CancerCare Manitoba or the charity of their choice. The family wishes to thank the Doctors and Staff and Health Sciences Emergency Ward and the 7th floor for their special caring of Dorothy during her last days. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
