Her memory will be cherished by her children, Delores (Ewald) Knopf, Margaret (Henry) Splett, Harvey (Emilie) Pluchinski, Eleanor, and Valerie (Alvin) Pescitelli, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as her sister Edna and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest in 1989 after 54 years of marriage and an infant son in 1937. She was also predeceased by her sisters Alma, Elsie and brother Arthur. Hedwig was known to everyone as Heddie, she was born to Gustave and Amelia Howk on October 31, 1919 in Whitemouth, Manitoba. She attended school in Whitemouth and helped on the family farm until her marriage to Ernest in 1935. Mom and Dad farmed in the Whitemouth area until 1959 when they moved to Winnipeg. The many hours dedicate to sewing, cooking, gardening and preserving were all done with the greatest love for her family. This generosity extended well beyond family to neighbours and friends. Mom loved her flower gardens and most of all she appreciated the simple things in life. Anyone who came to the house enjoyed many of Mom's home baked goodies. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to the staff at Beacon Hill Personal Care Home for their excellent care and assistance in ensuring Hedwig's comfort. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street.
