Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLENA MARKS It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother at the Gimli Community Health Centre on Thursday, November 19, 2009, just days before her 97 birthday. She was a resident of Betel Home for the last two years. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Leona (Mike) Woychyshyn and Dorothy Ingleson of Gimli; sons, Leonard and Bill (Becky) of Kelowna; daughter-in-law Doreen Marks; sister-in-law Frances Gottfried; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Mathias and Catherine Gottfried; her husband Stanley in 1980; her brother Mike Gottfried and sister Anne Kelsch; son-in-law Terry Ingleson; sons, Dan and Jim and daughters-in-law, Evelyn and Louise Marks. Lena was born on November 24, 1912 in Berlo, MB. She married Stanley in 1932 and raised six children on the family homestead. For many years she battled lung disease. Despite her failing health, she had a great sense of humour, and was gifted with a good memory, always remembering birthdays and telling jokes. She enjoyed playing bingo on a regular basis up to a few years ago. Lena created many fancy doilies and afghans for her family and friends. Everyone had a share of her work. It was her family that was most important to her during her life. She will be missed by all the lives she touched. May she have peace at last. Special thanks to the staff of Betel for their care and support and to Dr. Chapnik for his years of service. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Gimli on Tuesday, November 24, at 10:30 a.m. with interment in the Berlo Cemetery after lunch. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Box 3506, Gimli, MB, R0C 1B0. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
