Our precious dad leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 68 years Mary, daughters Chrissie (Marino) Patricia (Wayne), grandchildren Derek (Jen), Dale (Angie), Tracey (Ruben), Tricia (Marcelo) and Claudette (Trevor) and 11 great-grandchildren. Walter was predeceased by his mother Mary, father Michael, brother Steve and granddaughter Marina Vitelli Devlin. Walter was born in Winnipeg on January 25, 1921 and resided in the north end all his life. He attended Aberdeen School and graduated from St. John's High School. Walter, from a young boy was active in all sports with hockey being his favourite. He played junior hockey for various teams and then went on to play professional hockey for the American Hockey League until 1950. After his hockey career he was employed with Brewery Products, Carlings and the ABD, retiring in August 1, 1984 after 34 years. Dad loved his family unconditionally and we will miss his sense of humour, kind spirit and will always treasure the memories. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he adored as they gave so much pleasure and love. We would also like to thank his very best friend of many years Don Kelly for his friendship and devotion, taking Dad for golf outings which he enjoyed very much. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. J. Moncek and the nurses of 5th Floor U4 at Seven Oaks Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
