BRIAN ROY JOHNSON June 19, 1924 - November 20, 2009 Peacefully after a short stay in Grace Hospital, Brian passed away at the age of 85. He was predeceased by his wife, May (Jonsson) in July 1991 and his father Thorgilis Johannesson (Johnson) and his mother Gudrun Rosa Halldorsson. He was also predeceased by his brother Ernest Alfred, and sisters Anna Rosbjorg (Barton), Arora Kristjana (George), Florence Gudrun (Stephanson), Gudbjorg Maria (Harper) and Irene Muriel (Badali). He is survived by one sister, Eleanore Doreen Lovat of St. Lazarre, Quebec. He will be remembered and missed by his children, Brian (Barb), Paul (Wendy), Randy, Maureen Myers (Dean) and Patricia Tessier (Mike). He is also survived by eight grand-children and six great-grandchildren. Brian graduated from Daniel McIntyre School in 1941 and at the age of 17 he started his apprenticeship as a machinist with the CPR, Weston shops. His apprenticeship was delayed when he joined the Navy during the Second World War. He served as a stoker aboard the HMS Royalmount, a Frigate class ship crossing the Atlantic Ocean, protecting the convoys from German U-boats. He married May Injard Jonsson on July 27, 1945, raising five children in the Brooklands and Weston area. After his discharge from the Navy he resumed his apprenticeship at the CPR until his retirement. Brian was a hard worker, kind, generous and a loving husband and father. Brian will be remembered for his sense of humour and gentle smile. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 25, at Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery) at 11:00 a.m with viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery. Our family thanks the Doctors and staff at the ICU, Grace Hospital for their care and compassion during our father's illness.
