OLENA STEPHANIA GIGGINS (ONIE) 1917 - 2009 After a short illness Onie passed away at the Winnipegosis Hospital on November 18, 2009 at the age of 92. Predeceased by her husband Roy; parents John and Helga Stefanson; two sisters Steinunn Jamieson and Aurora Abrahamson and five nephews. Onie and Roy married in 1939 moving to Fort William, ON working and living there until 1948 returning to Winnipegosis. Onie was very active in the community, she received her 50 year pin from the Royal Purple and played the organ at the Knox Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and at the functions in town throughout the years. Onie and Roy enjoyed their weekends fishing at the Waterhen, drifting in their boat and waiting for a nibble. Everyone was welcomed into their home and well fed. Onie was never stumped when it came to great meals with singsongs around the piano afterwards, the parties in the gazebo on a warm night especially the Hat party of which Onie had many. Onie loved watching baseball and made a few trips to Minneapolis to watch the Blue Jays with her good friend Vicki Lytwyn. She enjoyed all sports on TV. Onie is survived by her brother Numi of Winnipegosis; sisters Nina of Woodlands, Kris of Thunder Bay and Yvonne of Winnipeg, many nephews and nieces scattered around the country. Onie loved and was loved by all. Thanks to Dr. Johnson and the kindness and thoughtfulness of all the girls who looked after our sister. Special thanks to Arnie Clarkson for his help around Onie's home and just dropping in to see how she was doing and have a little chat. Thank you Arnie from all of Onie's family. A celebration of Onie's life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church on November 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Lunch served at Elks Hall. Goth Nott Eiska
