IDA ZIEMSKI (nee Flockton) It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Ida Josephine Ziemski, our beloved mother, grandmother and Nana on November 20, 2009 at the age of 87. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Linda Yakimik (John), Ruth Ziemski and Barry Ziemski (Lori) as well as her granddaughters Michele, Cara and Kadie and her great-granddaughter Jaycelynn. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1988. She was the youngest and last surviving member of 14 brothers and sisters of the Flockton family. She was also predeceased by numerous members of the Ziemski family. Ida was born October 14, 1922 in Winnipeg. She loved her St.Vital roots. As a young girl she loved swimming and speed skating and she excelled at both. Ida married John Ziemski on January 3, 1942. Together they built their home on Giroux Street in St. Boniface where they raised their family and where they resided most of their married life. They enjoyed many happy times at their cottage in Pointe Dubois. Ida worked at Eatons for many years and enjoyed every minute of it. She loved Christmas, birthdays, ice cream, clowns and dogs, especially her Scotties and her grand-dogs. She was an avid reader and a lover of all music. She also loved her regular visits to Calgary. Mom had a wry sense of humour that would keep people giggling for hours. The family would like to thank the staff of Calvary Place for their exemplary care and compassion shown to Ida. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Calvary Place, 1325 Erin Street, Winnipeg, MB R3E 2S6. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, November 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons St. Burial at St. Boniface Cemetery and reception to follow.
