Left to cherish his passing are his sisters Rosa (Gaetano) Buscemi, nephews Pietro (April), Antonio (Antonietta), Adriano (Debbie), Roberto (Lanna), niece Christa. Great-nieces and nephews whom he adored Alyssa, Isabella, Sienna, Jayden and Matteo of Winnipeg, Ludovica (Orlando) Nigro, nieces Rita (Garry) of Lethbridge and Carla (Chris) of Ottawa. Nicola is also survived by Zia Fortuna (l00 years) and many cousins in Italy. Nicola was predeceased by his parents Grazia and Antonio Leone. Nicola was born in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy on May 16, 1944. In February 1955 at the age of 10, Nicola with his mother and two sisters immigrated to Canada to join his father. From a very young age Nick showed a zest for life and lived to the fullest. Nick was a Jack-of-all-Trades and a master of one. He worked in many occupations, almost completed hair-dressing school but the one he mastered was bartending. Nick worked at the International Inn for many years. He loved people and made a point of getting to know everyone. Nick also had hidden talents. He was a great cook and a natural artist. He loved all sports but his all time favourite was horse racing. Underneath the tough exterior he displayed was a big heart. He loved being with family and looked forward to the family gatherings. Despite his failing health, he was still the stubborn man he always was and lived his life as he saw fit. We are grateful to all his friends who kept him company and shared a drink or two. A special thanks to the nurses and doctors on the 3rd floor and Thank You Father Sam. Dear Nick you left us too soon, we were not ready to let you go. We will cherish the memories of times we shared forever. Until we meet again. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, November 26 at 10:30 a.m. with a public viewing at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave., presided by Father Sam Argenziano. Interment to follow at the Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be Pietro, Antonio, Adriano, Roberto, Aldo Buscemi and Chris Miller. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Grace Hospital, Cancer Society or the Liver Foundation. God called you home Nicola, Mom left the light on for you and is waiting with open arms as she always did. There is a glass of wine and a plate of fresh pasta on the table for you. We love you, riposa in pace. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
