CECIL (CEC) MCINTOSH It is with the saddest of hearts that our family announces the sudden passing of Cecil (Cec) McIntosh on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the age of 80. Cec was predeceased by his beloved wife, Peggy, who we lost in May; his parents Alexander and Mabel McIntosh of MacGregor, brothers Fred and Harvey, and sisters Ora and Phyllis. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Grant, Heather and Gail; grandsons Steinn and Stefan; sisters-in-law Phyllis of Winnipeg and Irene of California, as well as many relatives and friends. After spending his childhood in MacGregor, Dad began working for Manitoba Telephone System in 1947. Throughout his 38-year career with MTS, he held many positions in Winnipeg, Beausejour (where he met Peggy), Selkirk, Saudi Arabia, and Thompson, until finally retiring at 55. He and Peggy then spent winters driving through the States, jetting off to Vegas for long weekends, and visiting their children wherever they were; summers were spent relaxing at the cottage at Beaver Creek. For Dad, there was nothing more perfect than sitting on the shores of Washow Bay drinking a cold beer on a hot summer day after hours spent working on another project. He would look out at his grandsons swimming in the lake and remark: This is the life . In his youth, Dad was a skilled baseball and hockey player; later, he was an avid curler, bowler and golfer, and a longtime member of the Pembina Curling Club (President, 1975-76) and Pioneers bowling league, not to mention his regular poker outings on Wednesday evenings. Like Mom, Dad's devotion to his family was second to none. He was always there for us, at every event, every renovation, every milestone. His wisdom, common sense and constant support guided us through our life. When Steinn and Stefan came along, there was no prouder grandfather. He played an integral role in their childhood, spending countless hours teaching, encouraging, and playing with them, never missing a soccer game or concert or first day of school. Dad had such a positive and pleasant attitude towards life (even during his illness), and treated everyone he met with the utmost respect, which they returned in kind. His goodwill and generosity reached beyond family; he was always ready to help anyone in need. We were so lucky to have had him as our dad, grandpa and friend. The lessons he taught us will remain with us forever. Warmest thanks to the palliative care team and staff at Riverview Health Centre 3E. Dad and the family were also very appreciative of the exceptional care and compassion provided by Dr. James Johnston and nurse Erin at CancerCare. In keeping with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held for our parents at the Riverton Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cec's name to a charity of your choice. We love you, Mom and Dad / Amma and Grandpa, more than words can say.
