JOHN MAURICE GADDOWS September 3, 1924 - November 23, 2009 Peacefully after a short stay at Riverview Health Centre, John passed away. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Helen of 61 years, his children: Marcia (Murray), Vern (Morna) and Valerie (Bruce), five grandchildren and two great-grand-children. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Marcella Gadzosa, and brothers Bill and Tony. Born and raised in Dauphin. As a young man he enlisted in the R.C.A.F. and served abroad during the Second World War. Shortly after returning from the war, John met and married the love of his life Helen. He enjoyed an eclectic 37-year career with Manitoba Hydro. Besides his family, his passion was gardening. John loved all life and never saw himself as growing old, but rather continuing on his journey. He patiently suffered with health issues over the past year, never giving up the thought of getting past his pain so he could get on with what life had in store for him. With peace and honour, humbly he left us to be with his Lord. Dad was gentle and kind and always saw goodness in others. He was subtle in his sense of humour, articulate in speech, artistic and creative with his hands and mind. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his palliative nurses, Anne and Mariette; as well as the staff on the Palliative Ward of Riverview Health Centre. Funeral will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street on Friday, November 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service. Reverend Jamie Howison officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews College, The Canadian Cancer Society, or the U.O.C.C. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
