IRENE McKIBBIN (Affectionately known as Billy) (nee Bilkoski) August 20, 1932 - November 24, 2009 Irene passed away at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg in the late evening of Tuesday, November 24, 2009, with her good friend Dorothy Gauer at her side. Remaining to forever cherish Irene Billy's' memory are her sister Eunice; brother Dave (Linda); three sisters-in-law June, Marcia, and Gladys; son Derek (Leslie); grandchildren Mikela, Kellan, Justin and Kyla; nieces Carla, Coral, Tannis, Margo, Teri, Christine and Lori; nephews Ron, Michael, Marshall, Darrin, Rick and Calin, as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Michael; mother Mary; sisters Martha (at infancy) and Laura; and brothers John, Max, and Donald. Billy left the family farm in Brookdale at the young age of 17, and moved to Brandon where she worked for MTS (Manitoba Telephone System). After moving to Winnipeg, she pursued a career in hairdressing, obtained her license, taught hairdressing at Red River Community College, and became a barber and hairdressing licensing director for the Province of Manitoba. She loved to golf, was a member of the Southwood Golf and Country Club for many years, and loved to play bridge with her many friends. In compliance with Irene Billy's' wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in the Brandon Cemetery with her mother Mary and father Michael. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Irene Billy's' memory may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
