JOAN ROSAMOND ROUTLEDGE, B.A. (nee MIX) September 18, 1920 November 25, 2009 Died peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in Kingston General Hospital. Joan was a teacher, master teacher of mathematics and consultant in York Region and authored many mathematics textbooks for grades K-8. Her outstanding contributions to elementary mathematics education resulted in her receiving the Descartes Medal from University of Waterloo in 1974. Joan proudly obtained a B.A. from Queens University after many years of taking courses during summers and by correspondence all while teaching full-time and raising a family of three children with her husband Herbert Errington Routledge (1911 - 2007). Joan is survived by three children, Doug (Sue) Kingston, ON, Rick (Louise) Port Coquitlam, BC, and Pat (Will) Winnipeg, MB; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
