AMANDA FAYE BATENCHUK / SWALES June 27, 1979 - November 25, 2009 (Mandy) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of a young and strong spirit, Amanda Faye Mandy , at the age of 30 years. She was born on June 27, 1979 at St. Boniface Hospital and lived in Grand Rapids, later moving to uncle Philip and aunty Bernadette's to attend school at Happy Thought in East Selkirk, she then moved to Fraserwood with her family when they moved from Grand Rapids in 1994, there she attended Gimli High School. After this she moved to Gimli and then Winnipeg Beach with her husband Billy. She leaves to mourn her cherished memory husband and best friend William (Billy) Swales; babies Milo (her dog), Ling Ling (her cat); parents Geraldeen and Louis; brothers Gordon (Tracey) of Grand Rapids, Nolan (Taylynn) of Gimli; sister Cindy (Clarence) of Grand Rapids; grandmother Hazel and Papa Steve; as well as numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Mandy worked with her husband Billy at QSI Interiors. They were truly best friends, working, playing and living together, one never tired of the other. Mandy and Billy married in Mexico, their favourite vacation place. They were always planning their next trip whether it was to Mexico or to the Rod-N-Gun camp area in Grand Rapids. It didn't matter where it was, it was a good time. Mandy's favourite times were spent with her family, BBQ's, suppers, birthday parties, anything with food, they are known as the marathon eaters family. We will miss you. Mandy or Billy always had a camera in hand to capture the good times. Mandy enjoyed scrapbooking. She made her two nieces Charmaine and Tannis books one year, which they will both cherish because it came from their beautiful Auntie Mandy. We will miss you. Mandy was an outspoken person, she said what was on her mind. She could hold your attention telling one of her crazy stories. She had stories about everything under the sun as she was a true adventurest. Mandy was up for anything, and she was very convincing, No wasn't an answer when it came to an adventure. We will miss you. Thanks to the two gentlemen that came off the highway, the ambulance attendants, staff at the Selkirk General Hospital, Seven Oaks Hospital and Health Sciences Centre and also QSI co-workers and staff and Airport Terminal Job Site, CTV Toronto and family and friends for their thoughts and prayers. Prayers will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. also in the chapel with Fr. Rheal Forest officiating. Interment to follow at the Gimli Community Cemetery on Hwy. 222 just north of Gimli. Pallbearers will be Vincent Dolinski, Jonathon Dolinski, Kurt Gunkel, Tobias Dolinski, Ezra Reykdal and Jesse Lambert. Honorary pallbearers will be Milo and William Dolinski, Aaron Johnasson and her nieces and nephews. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
