Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRALPH EUGENE COOK 1935 - 2009 It is with great sadness and loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Ralph Eugene Cook in the early morning hours of November 26, 2009 at the age of 74 years. Left behind to cherish the memory of Ralph (Papa) are his loving wife Rosie of Selkirk; his children, Darlene of Riondel, BC, Trevor (Joanne), James and Jacqueline of Winnipeg; his stepchildren, Richard (Nancy), Kenny, Harvey (Barb), Nadine (Blair), Christine (David), Robert (Brenda), his special stepson Stewart, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ralph will also be missed by his special friends George and Muriel Borowski of Winnipeg. Ralph was predeceased by his first wife Jennie (Jean) Cook in 1981, his parents James and Elizabeth, his brother William and his daughter Marlene. Ralph was born and raised in Selkirk, MB on August 11, 1935. As a young man he would travel and work throughout Manitoba, eventually settling in Winnipeg and working in the construction industry as a respected heavy equipment operator until his retirement. Ralph and his first wife Jean raised their family of five children in Winnipeg before her passing in 1981. In 1991 Ralph would meet, and eventually marry his second wife of 18 years, Rosie, and eventually re-settled in Selkirk until the time of his passing. Ralph loved the great outdoors and everything that mother nature had to offer. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Together with Rosie and family, many enjoyable weekends were spent camping and fishing in Eastern Manitoba and the Kenora area. Ralph also enjoyed the unique sound of the Metis fiddle. Together with Rosie they could be found either at home or at events around Manitoba enjoying the music and dance. Above all, his greatest enjoyment in life came from spending quality time with family and friends. Ralph especially enjoyed the special holidays which brought everyone together. We will always remember his kind heart and love for life. His memory will live on in our hearts forever. Respecting Ralph's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family memorial service is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
