GORDON GIBBS Gordon Gibbs (born September 1926). Award-winning director, art-gallery curator, lifelong volunteer. Passed away from cancer November 14, 2009. Predeceased by his parents Abraham and Minnie, and sister Dorothy. Survived by his step-sister Celia Lipkin of Winnipeg, his daughters (with Elizabeth): Avra (Peter) and Zoë (Patric) and grandchildren, Liam, Matthew, Olive and Remi of Ottawa. After moving to Calgary in 1948, Gordon joined up with Betty Mitchell and Workshop 14 and played a major role in the development of Calgary's professional theatre scene, and remained an ardent arts supporter throughout his life. Gordon will be remembered as a dedicated father, grandfather, uncle and cousin. He will be greatly missed by many friends and extended family members in Calgary and across North America. A celebration of his life is planned for July 2010 in Calgary. If desired, donations may be made to the Gordon L. Gibbs Bursary for the Fine Arts at the University of Calgary (403-220-5854).
