Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNELIESE MARIA REICHERT With great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our precious Mom, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. After a long brave battle with ovarian cancer, Heaven received a very special angel on November 21, 2009, our Mom and wife, Anneliese Maria Reichert. Mom was predeceased by her brother Walter, father, stepfather and her mother. Mom will forever be remembered and sorely missed by Poppy husband of 51 years; daughters, Ramona and Michelle; the other man in her life, grandson Christopher; sister Suzanne; brother Fred (Vickie) and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Vienna, Austria on December 11, 1940. Mom and her family immigrated to Canada in 1952. In 1958 she married her soulmate Karl. She had two little girls and was very devoted to them. She ALWAYS dressed us impeccably right from the frilly socks on our feet, the gloves on our hands, the little purse on our arm, hats on our heads and bows in our hair. Mom always took wonderful care of her family and home. Mom had many hobbies. Her hobbies ranged from knitting dishcloths to crocheting dining room tablecloths. Many people in the city are wearing a pair of Mom's handmade mitts, scarves or socks. Mom made hundreds of mitts for the Christmas Cheer Board for over 20 years. Mom would even keep a few pairs of mitts in her purse in case she bumped into someone on the street who could use a pair. Mom did many random acts of kindness; too many to mention. Mom gave to many charities, especially auctions for good causes. Many people have made bids on the beautiful handcrafted afghans she made. Generally, no one ever left her house without something that wasn't handcrafted by her. Mom loved gardening, veggies and flowers. Her backyard was so beautiful; a couple even had their wedding pictures taken in her back yard. If you knew Mom she was hilarious. Her Willie Nelson impersonation was so funny. She always had a joke or an impish little smile on her face. You knew she was up to something. Mom spent most of her working life at Broadway Florist. Mom was a very devoted employee, only perfection was acceptable. She worked there right up until she got sick, BUT still made time to visit her Polo Park mall walker friends. Mom also spent a few years working at Park Florist where she also made many wonderful friends. There is a blue spruce tree in St. Vital Park that she name Jr. She planted that tree over 20 years ago and went to visit the tree often to fertilize and nurture it. Mom got so much pleasure out of the simple things in life such as just taking a ride to Lockport, feeding the geese on Thanksgiving weekends, a nice meal with friends and family. Mom was such a wonderful cook. Her cabbage rolls were the best. Christmas's were truly something else at Mom's. We celebrated an Austrian Christmas. She was so proud of her heritage and often went to visit her family still there. Mom was a member of the Austrian Society in Winnipeg and gave much of her time and talent. Mom and Dad did extensive travelling. They often travelled to the United States to visit her family. She was so excited when she went to visit her aunts and uncles in Austria. In the last few years, her favourite place to go was Puerto Vallarta. Our family would sincerely like to thank all of her friends for the kind gifts, flowers and the time you spent with Mom while she was in the hospital. We know she really cared for all of you and you for her. Last but not least, we would like to thank the St. Boniface ER and the 3B ward for all their care and compassion to Mom. The nurses and doctors were so kind and patient with us. Our family would like to give an honourable mention to Louise. Louise took such good care of our family, above and beyond her job requirements we are sure. We thank you very much. According to Mom's wishes, no formal funeral will be held. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. If you are a woman or have one in your life, please encourage them to get a CA125 blood test. Don't let our Mom pass away in vain. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Manitoba Cancer Society.
