GEORGE DEBIUK July 19, 1918 - November 27, 2009 Peacefully, at Fred Douglas Lodge on the morning of November 27, 2009, Dad (Papa) passed away at the age of 91 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years Ruby; his children, Joyce, Yvonne (Sigi), Bill, Wayne (Sharon), Rob (Robbie), Debbie (Morris), 12 grandchildren, six great-grand-children and his brother John (Margaret). Dad was predeceased by many loved ones, all of whom he missed dearly especially his dear sister Mary and his son-in-law Stan. Dad was born and raised in Stony Mountain, Manitoba, where he met the love of his life, Ruby Linklater. They married on January 30, 1943 and later moved to Winnipeg, where they raised their six children in their Flora Avenue home. Their home was always filled with the love and laughter of family and friends with whom he loved to share a drink with around the kitchen table while playing his harmonica. Dad was a lifetime member of Legion 141. He was a mechanic by trade and could often be found fixing cars in his backyard. He loved family gatherings in Stony Mountain, visiting his children and grandchildren in B.C., playing Bingo at the Legion and would spend hours watching his squirrels and birds outside his window at Fred Douglas Lodge. Family would like to thank the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge (Willow Unit) for their kindness, dedication and the wonderful care they provided for Dad over the last five years. A Celebration of Life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children's Make a Wish Foundation. 586-8044
