GERTRUDE BLANCHE ROWAN (nee SENECAL) Paisiblement, entourée de sa famille, Gertrude est décédée à l'hôpital général de Saint-Boniface le jeudi 26 novembre 2009 à l'âge de 78 ans. Elle laisse en deuil ses cinqs enfants et leurs conjoints : Gisèle et Gilbert Robin, Monique et Lionel Vouriot, Marc et Sandy Rowan, Al et Brenda Rowan, Gilbert Rowan ; ainsi que 9 petits-enfants et leurs conjoints, et 2 arrières petits-enfants : Jérémie et Emma Robin, Christian et Janelle Robin, Jean-Pierre Robin et Caroline Plante, David Robin et Stéphanie Bissonnette, Chantal (Vouriot) et Eric Pinette, Réal Vouriot, Stéphanie et Lindsay Rowan, Kayla Lambert Rowan, Olivier et Leah Robin. Elle laisse aussi 3 soeurs et un frère, Doris Verreault (de Gatineau), Jeannette et Alphonse Durand, Irène et Normand Grondin (d'Ottawa), Maurice Senécal; des belles-soeurs et beaux-frères, Léo et Rosemary Rowan, Georges et Marie Rowan, et Roger Fournier ; ainsi que son ex-mari, Roland Rowan au Centre Taché. Elle avait aussi une relation spéciale avec tous ses neveux et nièces, qui inclut ceux d'Ottawa et de Gatineau. Elle laisse aussi de bons souvenirs avec ses nombreuses amies/amis. Née à Meyronne, SK, en passant par St. Eustache, Elie, et Saint-Boniface au Manitoba, elle est devenue une femme forte, courageuse, pleine de joie de vivre et d'énergie, avec un sourire rayonnant. Son talent de couturière est devenu l'outil idéal pour rendre service aux autres. L'amour qu'elle avait pour ses enfants, ses petits-enfants et ses arrières petits-enfants, ne peut pas être mesuré. Elle avait une foi abondante et une grande fierté de sa langue maternelle. Active dans bien des organismes, c'est en février pour le Festival du Voyageur, qu'elle pouvait vraiment jouir des soirées de danses avec la musique du bon vieux temps. Elle était très fière d'être la couturière officielle pour les Sisters of the Holy Rock. Atteinte d'un cancer en juillet 2008, tous ont été témoin de son courage, sa foi, et son bel esprit pendant cette dernière année. Nous tenons à remercier spécialement son infirmière de soins palliatifs, Germaine Léger, qui l'a suivie pendant plus qu'une année. Notre famille est très reconnaissante pour les soins excellents prodigués par les médecins, les infirmières et les étudiantes de l'Hôpital St-Boniface, Centre de soins palliatifs. Le visionnement aura lieu à partir de 9h30, suivi par la messe des funérailles à 10h30, le mercredi le 2 décembre en la paroisse du Précieux-Sang, 200 rue Kenny. GERTRUDE BLANCHE ROWAN (nee SENECAL) Peacefully with family by her side, Gertrude passed away at Saint-Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit, on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at the age of 78 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her five children and their partners, Gisèle and Gil Robin, Monique and Lionel Vouriot, Marc and Sandy Rowan, Al and Brenda Rowan, Gilbert Rowan; along with nine grandchildren and their partners, and two great-grandchildren: Jérémie and Emma Robin, Christian and Janelle Robin, Jean-Pierre Robin and Caroline Plante, David Robin and Stéphanie Bissonnette, Chantal (Vouriot) and Eric Pinette, Réal Vouriot, Stephanie and Lindsay Rowan, Kayla Lambert Rowan, Olivier and Leah Robin. She also leaves to mourn, three sisters and one brother, Doris Verreault in Gatineau, PQ, Jeannette and Alphonse Durand, Irène and Normand Grondin in Ottawa, Maurice Senécal; also sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Léo and Rosemary Rowan, Georges and Marie Rowan, and Roger Fournier; she is also survived by her ex-husband, Roland Rowan of Taché Centre. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews and their partners. She leaves fond memories for her many many friends. Born in Meyronne SK, moving through St. Eustache, Elie and St. Boniface, MB, Gertrude grew up to be a beautiful, strong woman, full of energy and joie de vivre , with the most captivating smile. Her sewing talents were used at first as a way to make a living, and soon became a way to help others. Gertie was extremely proud of being the official seamstress for The Sisters of the Holy Rock. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were cherished. Each new member of the family was welcomed with open arms and hugs. She believed in love thy neighbour and do unto others . She was the true embodiment of unconditional love. No one can forget her wonderful attitude throughout her last year, what we now call the bonus round . A special thank you to her palliative/home care nurse, Germaine Léger, who followed her course for over a year. Thank you also to the wonderful staff and student nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit, for their care and compassion during her last four days. Viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, December 2 at Eglise du Précieux-Sang, 200 Kenny Street.
