Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDERICK CLAUDE WARK July 21, 1932 - November 28, 2009 Surrounded by love, in the arms of his cherished wife and family, Fred Wark peacefully passed away at the Selkirk and District General Hospital. Left to cherish his memory, the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Anna, his son Tom (Diane) and their children Jason, Cole and Ryan, his daughter Erin (Greg) and their children Kristin and Cara (Jamie), great-grandchildren Ty and Jaya, his daughter Wendy (Denis) and their children Colin, Kyle and Kelsie, his daughter Lyle-Lynn and her son Brett, his daughter Sherry (Tim) and their children Brayden and Connor. He is survived by his sister Betty Fox (Rolly), his brother John Wark (Darlene), his sisters-in-law Sella and Joyce, his brother-in-law Gilbert Benedictson (Fran), along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his parents Jack and Marion, mother-in-law and father-in-law Valdi and Freda Benedictson, sisters Norma and Kay, and brothers-in-law Roy Ross, Donnie and Rayme Benedictson and his nephews Terry Fox and Jeff Wark. Fred was born in Boissevain and raised in Melita. He started his career with M.T.S. on November 13, 1951 after reluctantly declining an opportunity of a lifetime to play professional hockey as a goaltender. While working in Riverton, he met and married his Icelandic sweetheart Anna. Dad was a conscientious hard worker and a loyal employee. Due to Dad's position with M.T.S., he had to move his family throughout rural Manitoba. In 1965 after a life altering accident, they moved and settled in Selkirk where they finished raising their family. On November 16, 1989 Dad retired after 38 years of service. Dad was caring and dedicated to his family, and was extremely proud of his only son who followed in his footsteps choosing a career with M.T.S. He referred to his girls as his own medical team as they all chose careers in the medical field. His greatest delight was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and always attended as many activities and events as possible. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Fuchs for his compassion and exemplary care, as well as Linda Borsa, and Drs. Daenick, Lo, Demsas and Lindenschmidt. Thanks to the supportive staff at the Selkirk and District General Hospital and home care for their kindness and dedication shown to Dad and our family. Respecting Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Selkirk Evangelical Lutheran Church, 329 Clandeboye Ave., Selkirk, MB with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The War Amps, 1-800-250-3030 or the Selkirk Evangelical Lutheran Church. Forever in my heart Elskan We'll miss you Papa Goda Nott Pabbi Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
