DONALD NEIL ROURKE On December 1, 2009, Donald Neil Rourke passed away at home in Stony Mountain, MB. Surviving Donald are his wife Myrna of 55 wonderful years, son David and wife Diane of Minto, MB, grandchildren Dana, Darcie (Patrick Gervin), Donald (Shawna Fletcher) and Dorian, great-grandchildren Lenea, Kane and Annabel Gervin, daughter Donna and husband Lyle Evenson of Stony Mountain, MB, grandchildren Carol and Neil (Sylvia Jarosiewicz). Donald was born in St. Boniface on June 21, 1930. He grew up and went to school in St. Vital where he made many lifelong friends and enjoyed many sports. Donald completed his carpentry apprenticeship in 1951 continuing his career in the carpentry shop at Air Canada. The balance of his career was spent as owner of Rourke Construction and Sanford Lumber. Donald and Myrna traveled to Europe, British Isles, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, United States and established a winter home for 10 years in Yuma Arizona. Everywhere Donald went he made friends that lasted his lifetime. His ready smile and open arms are an inspiration to all who knew him. A celebration of Donald's life will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall, MB. A private family interment to follow. In lieu of any flowers, donations may be made to the Health Sciences Centre Research Foundation. Thank you to Marilyn and Mike from the Interlake EMS for their care. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation and thanks to Dr. Ken Van Ameyde for his humour, excellent care, compassion and continuous support over many years. I was so sorry to hear of Don's passing. You will all miss him a great deal as his humor and laughter were infectious. I have missed him in the community as I have also missed many of you and often wonder how the kids are doing. Sharon and I send our condolences and pray for you.
