KATHLEEN CORLEY
Date of Passing: Dec 01, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN CORLEY Peacefully, with her family by her side, Kathleen passed away on December 1, 2009 at Seven Oaks Hospital the age of 95 years. Kathleen was predeceased by her sister Norah Carey, her brothers Leslie and Gerald Powell. She is survived by her children Timothy Corley, Dan (Diane) Corley, Theresa Corley, Mary Lawrence, Heather (Richard) Makinson, grandchildren Daniel Jr. (Heather), Chris, Shawna, Krista, Paul, Kelly, Scott, Kevin and Kaley, and four great-grandchildren Kaitlynn, Austin, Zachary and Elizabeth. She is also survived by her sister Mae Chrisp and her two brothers James and Henry Powell. Kathleen was born in Vermillion, Alberta. She left the family farm at the age of 16 and moved to Montreal, Quebec to take up hairdressing. In 1949 she moved to Winnipeg, where she remained to raise her five children, while at the same time owning and operating her own hairdressing business. She was a wonderful mother, very supportive, giving up much to raise and support her family. She accomplished many things, many of them happening after her children were grown. She was a long time member of the C.W.L., travelled to many places such as Rome (where she did the walk of Christ), Israel, and Egypt. She learned how to drive, swim and bowl late in life, this provided her with youth and energy, and she also had a great sense of humour. We wish to thank the nursing staff of the 4th Floor Unit 1, 11 and 12 at Seven Oaks Hospital for all their compassion care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathleen's name may be made to St. Theresa's Parish. Kathleen's Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Theresa's Parish, with interment to follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
