Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE BERGEN 1916 - 2009 Catherine passed away in the Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Home on December 2, 2009. She was born on November 19, 1916 and grew up in the St. Joseph district, west of Letellier. She was predeceased by her parents, Cornelius and Katharina (Hildebrand) Bergen; by two brothers Charlie and Henry; by five sisters Mary, Anne, Sara (Sally), Susan and Elizabeth; by three brothers-in-law Sven Frolander, Abram Giesbrecht and John Schroeder; by two sisters-in-law Mary (Dueck) Bergen and Elma (Klassen) Bergen. Left to mourn Catherine's passing are four brothers: Peter, Cornelius, William and Elvin; three sisters: Helen, Hilde and Gertrude, and two sisters-in-law, Tina (Schroeder) Bergen and Mary (Wiebe) Bergen. As an adult Catherine lived the first 15 years in Winnipeg, followed by over 50 years in Vancouver, and then again during her last six years in Winnipeg. In Vancouver, she worked the longest time in a hospital as an anesthesiologist attendant. Catherine loved her work and her home, and she always had time for her friends. During her many years in Vancouver, she was particularly active in the Royal City Christian Centre. We wish to thank the staff of Mennonite Personal Care Home for their kindness and excellent care of Catherine, and sincere thanks to her faithful volunteer Marie Dueck. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. (just west of the perimeter). Viewing will be held prior to the service.
