Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA (PAT) MARION BERGEN November 14, 1934 - December 2, 2009 Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. It is with great sadness we say goodbye for now to our beloved wife, treasured mom, cherished nana, and loyal friend who passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on December 2, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre. Pat was born on November 14, 1934 in Winnipeg, Manitoba; the only child of Andrew and Nora Scott. In August of 1955 she married Harry Bergen and together they raised two daughters, Brenda and Bonnie. After her girls were grown up she turned her passion for the Lord into a productive career that spanned 17 years at Grant Memorial Baptist Church. Pat was a people person who genuinely cared for all those who she came in contact with. She faithfully served in many roles at the church. In particular, she was greatly appreciated for her attention to detail, positive, cheerful attitude, and was considered by all to be a beautiful reflection of Christ. Even after her official retirement at the church she was asked to assist in various ongoing projects. Her willingness to help out was a true gift. Pat took great pride and joy in the lives of her children and grandchildren and they were always her priority. Our special nana took keen interest in each of her five grandchildren. She made a point to encourage and support them in all of their interests. Nana was a faithful prayer warrior and her unconditional love will always be treasured. Each day had a purpose and she utilized every moment to the fullest. Adding interest to her retirement years she volunteered at the Winnipeg Airport as a member of the Gold Wing team. Again, her personable character made travelling strangers and her co-workers feel at home. Pat and Harry enjoyed traveling together with their family and friends. We have many fond memories of our vacation adventures. We cannot begin to understand why the Lord chose to take you so suddenly, but we hold fast to the hope of seeing you again in heaven someday. You will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by your devoted husband of 54 years, Harry, daughters, Brenda Stuart of Toronto, Ontario, Bonnie and Mark Thiessen of Rosenort, Manitoba, and grandchildren, Amy and Carly Stuart, and Riley, Kyla, and Tanner Thiessen. A memorial service to celebrate Pat's life will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grant Memorial Baptist Church, 877 Wilkes Avenue. In honour of her giving nature donations may be made to World Vision, 1 World Drive, Mississauga, Ontario L5T 2Y4.
