MARCIA JUNE NIELSEN Marcia June Nielsen (Murray) passed away, surrounded by family, November 13, 2009 in Duncan, BC following a courageous battle with cancer. Marcia was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Catherine Murray. Born June 14, 1942 in Liverpool, England, Marcia together with her parents and younger sister moved to Edmonton, AB in 1950. Marcia and her husband Ken moved to Winnipeg in 1965 where they raised their four children and resided there until her retirement in 2007. She will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Lana (Dave) Mcdonough, Sean, Courtney and Tyler of Calgary, AB, Jenny (Jim) Broere, Dane and Cate of Chemainus, BC, Grant (Andrea) Nielsen, Jayden, Lexa and Ella of Port Moody, BC, Keith (Shelley) Nielsen, Gabrielle, Jack, Grace and Max of Salt Lake City, UT; her sister Denise (Barney) Murray of Edmonton, AB and her nieces Janelle, Marcy and Taryn. Once her children were grown Marcia worked at the Health Sciences Centre where she made many close friendships. Following her retirement she moved to Ladysmith, BC. A dedicated mother and grandmother with a strong presence in each of her children's lives. Very active throughout her life, Marcia was a true force of nature loved by all; her strength and lust for life was an inspiration to many. Marcia will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A private celebration of her life will be held next summer in Banff, AB by her family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Humane Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
