GUDRUN DOREEN LEWIS (DORIS) 1922 - 2009 With deep sorrow the family of Doreen (Doris) Lewis, born December 3, 1922 in Winnipeg announces her passing on November 26, 2009 with family by her side at Grace Hospital. Doris was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Douglas Ian, as well as her parents Sigtrigur and Jonina Jorundson. Surviving Doris are her sons Bruce, and Doug Jr. and granddaughter Carrie of Edmonton, as well as her brother Robert. The family wishes to acknowledge the kind and caring care given to Doris by Dr. Joshua, Major Doris Jarvis (Salvation Army) and the nurses of Unit 5 North. Doris will be remembered as an unselfish, kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother with a quick wit and a wry sense of humor. Her love and wisdom guided and shaped all she touched. Doris gave much of her time to volunteering, especially at Sturgeon Creek Community Club. She also loved to participate in such activities as bowling, golf and crafts, such as, paper toile and ceramics. Doris also enjoyed a career as office manager at J Hansen and Son Plumbing for many years until her retirement. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Doris's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Winnipeg, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3R6 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7.
