KAZIMIERZ (KAZ) URBANIK It is with great sadness that on Friday, December 4, 2009, our beloved Father and Grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 years. Kazimierz was predeceased by his wife Maria in 1978. Left to forever cherish his memory are his daughter Renata (Robert Gigiel); son Richard (Debra); grandchildren Amber (Alan Gomez) and Courtney; great-grandchildren Taylor and Jaden. Kazimierz was born in 1931 in Majdan Sieniawski, South Eastern, Poland. He married his wife, Maria in 1955, and then immigrated to Canada, moving to Winnipeg with his family, in 1964. For many years he was self-employed as a tailor at his own shop, Carl's Custom Tailors on Selkirk Avenue, in the North End. He then worked at Eaton's Downtown, for ten years in the alteration department, before retiring in 1991. He was forever grateful to all his customers who showed their loyalty over the many years, even after his official retirement. Dad enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He spent many summers in Gimli, at his cottage which he built himself. He loved being outdoors, and whether at the cottage or in Winnipeg, he could always be found relaxing on his lawn chair in the yard. His weekly card games with his friends kept his mind sharp, always thinking of his next strategy to win. He was a true lover of animals, and always had a special treat ready for his favourite dog. He had a wonderful sense of humour that made everyone laugh. He was a generous man, with a heart of gold. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, Ward 7, Dr. Salem and Dr. Taraska for their excellent care, kindness and compassion shown through this very difficult time. Prayer service will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave., on Wednesday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Kazimierz's memory to the Manitoba Lung Association. We love you Dad and we will never forget you. Kochamy Cie wiecznie i pamientamy o Tobie zawsze. Wieczny odpoczynek racz mu dac Panie. 586-8044
