JEAN PETHYBRIDGE (nee LENTON) On December 5, 2009 Jean passed away peacefully at her home in the Boyne Lodge at the age of 81 years. Jean was predeceased by her husband Joe on November 21. As of December 11 they would have been married 61 years. They will now be together again. Jean was born, raised and educated in Miami, MB. She moved to Carman and began her working career with the C.I.B.C. It is there that she met Joe and was married in 1948. Jean worked alongside of her husband for the majority of her working career after they purchased the Lucky Dollar Food store in 1958. It was later expanded to Ladies wear that Jean ran for many years. After the business was sold, Jean worked part time as a bookkeeper for many years. Jean was also active in the community. She was a Rebeccah for 56 years. She was a member of the United Church Choir from 1948 until she could no longer physically attend in the past few years. She was also treasurer of the choir for 25 years and the United Church for four years. She knitted for the Red Cross for 17 years. She was a member of the board of the Boyne Lodge for six years and a volunteer for many more. Jean was also active with the Carman Skating Club for many years. She curled for several years and both Jean and Joe bowled for a number of years and won several Mr. and Mrs. competitions. Jean is survived by her son Jack and wife Barb, daughters Joyce and her husband Peter, Joni and her husband Rod, and her son Jeff, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Ollie, Laura (Rene) and Dora. Funeral services will be held at the Carman United Church on Wednesday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boyne Lodge, Carman Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, or to the Parkinson's Society.
