Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET JANE (PEGGY) AVENT (nee ROACH) Peacefully, with her family at her side, at Riverview Health Centre, Peggy Avent, aged 90, widow of John Charles Avent, died December 5, 2009. Peg was born in Winnipeg on September 14, 1919. She was predeceased by her husband Jack Avent, her parents Robert and Gladys Roach and sister Patricia and husband Bob Campbell of Grande Prairie. Also, favourite uncle and aunt, Bill and Molly Hanbury, cousins Joan Olafson and Janice Hanbury and grandson, Roy Bosman. Peg was an active member and volunteer at All Saints Anglican Church, working there full time as a young woman. She worked at several local firms, retiring from C.N.R. in 1984 as Secretary to the Vice-President after many years of service. She is survived by her stepchildren Betty Matthews, Cathy Liquorish, Mary Bosman, Janet Hvidt, Leslie Anderson, Ted Avent, and Eloise Young-Trickey and their families. She is also survived by cousins Bill Hanbury Jr., Harold Olafson and families of British Columbia, nephew Rick Campbell and family of Grande Prairie and niece Judi Sanders and family of Sexsmith, Alberta. A private family burial has taken place at St. John's Cathedral Cemetery. All family and close friends are considered her honourary pallbearers A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Riverview Health Centre on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 2P4 or to a charity of one's choice.
