AGATHE GEORGINA MCLEOD (MA'LETTE)
Date of Passing: Dec 07, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAGATHE GEORGINA MCLEOD (nee MA'LETTE) With great sadness we announce the passing our Mom, Agathe Georgina McLeod, on Monday, December 7, 2009. Mom will lovingly be remembered by her children: Mary-Anne DeFoort (Dennis), David (Carol), Denis (Sandy), Mervyn (Roger), Arlene Mahadoo (Jaysen), Doug, Paul, Mark (Maureen), Kathleen Troller (Nick); 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her husband Peter and their daughter Theresa Lynn. Mom was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by her brother Bud Ma'Lette, her sisters Mary Montgomery (David) and Josephine Unwin (Bob), niece Kim Tyrchinsky and most recently Mom's best friend of 75 years, Ida Flockton Ziemski and her husband John. Mom was born on Riel Avenue in St. Vital on June 3, 1922. For a short period, she lived in Vancouver, BC but returned to her beloved St. Vital where she attended Glenwood School and graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate. Mom and Dad met in the 1940s and married in 1943. In her youth she excelled at swimming and speed skating. She loved to dance and sing, and her babies! Mom was an active member of the C.W.L. and a long time member of Christ the King Church and devoted her time to numerous charities and undertakings. Mom was a true artist, her canvas was yarn and wool and her tools were knitting needles. Her elegant and unique works were highly in demand and prized by their recipients. Mom was the most self-less individual you ever could have known. We were very fortunate to have the Mom we had. With limited resources, and limitless love she and our father raised an amazing family. Special thanks go to the staff and extended family at the Tache Nursing Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 11 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary's Road. Interment will follow in the family plot at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In reflection of our Mother's generosity, donations may be made to Tache Centre, 185 Despins, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2H 2B3. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO.
