KATIE BRAUN February 20, 1921 - December 6, 2009 Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant ... (1 Cor. 13:4) Katie Braun (nee Wiebe) passed away peacefully Sunday evening at Donwood Personal Care Home. She was the first child born to Heinrich and Katarina Wiebe in Rosenfeld. Her faith in God and in Christ her Saviour was central in her life, and she was faithful in her prayer life and in participating in church. She married Bernard K. Braun in 1946, and they moved to Winnipeg and started a family. Katie was a loving mother and grandmother instilling values of faith, endurance, honesty, modesty and independence in her children. Katie was especially skilled and creative in sewing, making hats, wedding dresses, coats and quilts, as well as knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed reading, was a great cook and a welcoming, gracious hostess. Katie was a caring and compassionate person with a special heart for children and who cared for the elderly; her life was spent making love visible. Katie leaves to mourn her loving husband of 63 years, Ben, her children Harold, Esther Wiebe, Vernon (Gloria), Alan (Ev), Lois (Siggi Holzhaeuer), and Tim (Marian); her grandchildren, Corinne Audet (Jules), Amanda Honke (Lannie), Cameron Wiebe (Meghan), Gabriel Wiebe, Christopher and Heath Braun, Lucas and Katrina Holzhaeuer; and her great-grandchildren Alex and Larissa Braun, Eliza and Chad Honke, her sisters Anne Racy and Helen Windels (Stan), and her brother David Wiebe (Esther), her nieces and her nephew. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Nellie Wiebe and brother Willie Wiebe. On Ben's side she is missed by many brothers and sisters-in-law and their families. Many thanks to the kind staff at Donwood Personal Care Home for their loving care of Katie these last years. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Mennonite Central Committee. Viewing at Donwood P.C.H. Auditorium December 10, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Funeral at Bethel Mennonite Church Friday, December 11, 11:00 a.m. Viewing at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow.
