Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALDINE INEZ GILLESPIE (nee SHEPHERD) Peacefully, on December 7, 2009, after a short illness, our beloved Mother and Nanny passed away in Ste. Anne Hospital with her daughters at her side. Born March 28, 1928 in Winnipeg's north end, daughter of James and Kathleen Shepherd, sister to Hector (Anna). Gerry later moved with her family to the farm near Anola, MB. While working on the nearby Gillespie farm, she met and married her beloved Jack, who predeceased her in 2001 and has resided on the farm for the past 61 years. She will be sorely missed by her daughters: Kathleen (Andy) Bell, and Glennis (George) McGregor, four grandsons: Andrew (Ingrid) Bell, Matthew (Kristi) Bell, Daniel (Jennifer) Bell, Nathan Bell (Isabelle Poulin), three granddaughters: Melissa (Daryl) Lucking, Megan McGregor, Mackenzie McGregor (Wayne Falk) along with many friends and neighbours. Along with working on the farm and caring for her family, she was extremely involved in her community: president of the Chatelaine Club (known for their beautiful hand-made quilts), manager of the Wee Shop, Anola correspondent for the Carillon since 1996, secretary-treasurer for the Beatrice S.D., member of the Anola U.C.W., leader, volunteer and choir member of the Anola United Church, member of the Eastman Choral Group and coordinator for the Springfield World Day of Prayer. Our sincere appreciation goes out to the wonderfully caring people of the Springfield Home Care, the Ste. Anne Hospital and Clinic who cared for Mom over the years. Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Anola United Church, 741 Weiser Crescent. Interment will follow at Millbrook Cemetery, reception at Over 50 Club. Honorary pallbearers are her seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anola United Church, Box 147, Anola, MB R0E 0A0 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 9Z9.
