Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDENIS DUMESNIL Denis Dumesnil died peacefully in his sleep on December 9, 2009 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Denis was born on April 20, 1925. He was the third child of a family of eight children. He attended school in St. Agathe. In his youth, he worked on the family farm with his father. In 1951, Denis then 26 years old was the victim of a serious car accident. The consequences were very serious. He spent a year at the Deer Lodge Hospital and came out as a paraplegic. He had to find a new way of earning a living different from being a farmer. He took a course at the Manitoba Technical Institute and became a small appliance repairman. He succeeded well in his new endeavour and worked for 13 years at Chase McLean Electric. Then for another 18 years, he worked at The Avenue Electric on Broadway and then at its new location on Wellington Avenue. He retired in 1983. Gifted with courage and determination, Denis had been able to be self-sufficient throughout those years until his death at the age of 84. He greatly appreciated the friendship and the kindness of the residents at the Lions on Worthington and more recently at 400 Place Des Meurons. Surviving Denis' passing are his sisters: Rita St-Hilaire and Sister Léonne, snjm., his two brothers Adrien and Richard, sisters-in-law Marguerite and Lorraine, brothers-in-law Georges and Gérard (Vi) and many nephews and nieces. Denis' father Edouard died in 1983 and his mother Lucienne (née Péloquin) died in 1984. His three sisters Anne-Marie Robert (Aimé Robert), Sister Marie-Paule m.o., and Aline Bilodeau have also died in recent years. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the St. Agathe Catholic Church. Burial will take place at the St. Agathe cemetery following the funeral service. For those who so wish, a donation can be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association, 825 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5. DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
