LOUIS ETIENNE FELIX GUICHERET November 26, 1920 - December 5, 2009 In the pre-dawn hours of December 5, our beloved husband, Dad, Grandpa and Uncle was called home to his final rest. He crossed over the Rainbow Bridge to be greeted by Spencer, Nelson, Brandon and all other family members who had gone before. Predeceased by his father Louis SR., mother Elizabeth, brother Maurice, sister-in-law Elsie and brother-in-law Tom Stokes, Larry (as he liked to be called) will be greatly missed by wife Doreen, sons Robin and Martin (Granddaughters Crystal and Jennifer) and daughter Lynne (Jim Kotowich). Also mourning his passing are sister-in-law Rita and Archie Fisher, nephew Wayne, Carol and their family, niece Marilyn and her family, nephews Terence and Carlton Stokes and good friend Cathy all of England, best friends Rick and Lorraine Steck, bowling buddies from the Dakota Bowling Lanes and many others too numerous to mention (you know who you are). Larry met Doreen during the Second World War at a skating rink in Richmond, Surrey, England. There began a wonderful 64 years of married life blessed with three wonderful children: Robin, Lynne and Martin. Dad was very proud of his army service overseas as a dispatch rider with the R.C.C.S. from September, 1940 to January, 1946. After nine years in England, Mum and Dad immigrated back to Canada where Dad embarked upon a very fulfilling career in the heating/air conditioning business. He retired in 1984 and enjoyed many years golfing with Mum, puttering around in his garden, following his beloved Montreal Canadiens and St. Louis Cardinals and trips abroad with Mum. However, his most wonderful attribute (which will be his legacy) was his unwavering love of animals. Many a stray cat found food, warmth, a home and most of all undying love in his care. Jennie and Pebbles can attest to that. We, the family, would like to thank the compassionate and caring staff at Riverview Health Centre-3E Wing: Dr. Hiebert, Dr. Garcia, Susan Reesor for your guidance, the wonderful nurses and HCA'S, especially Tracy-you always knew how to make Dad laugh. Many special thanks from Mum to son-in-law Jim for your loving support and help at this most difficult time. In lieu of flowers, Dad would have greatly appreciated a donation to one of his favourite charities: Quaggas Stray Cat Rescue, Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Cremation has taken place and as per Dad's wishes, there will be no formal funeral. However, all are invited to gather on January 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Worship Centre at Riverview Centre, 1 Morley Place to celebrate Dad's life and share your memories. Dad, we will always love you. My First Christmas in Heaven I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below with tiny lights like Heaven's stars reflecting on the snow. The sight is spectacular, please wipe away your tears for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year. I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear but the sound of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here. I have no words to tell you the joy the voices bring for it is beyond description to hear the angels sing. I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart but I am not so far away, we really are not apart. I send you each a special gift from my heavenly home above; I send you each a memory of my undying love. After all, love is a gift more precious than gold. It was always most important in the stories that were told. Please love and keep each other as my father said to do; I am counting the blessings and the love he has for you. Author Unknown
